(1) From my perspective, although the United States are considered as the most powerful country in the world, there still exists many problems in American society. First of all, the United States is the largest privately owned firearms in the world, the proliferation of firearms has caused serious social problems. Lots of people have died in mass killings. On average, more than 100,000 Americans are being shot each year, and30,000 deaths are caused by the use of guns. Therefore the civil's security is a prominent problem.
(2) What's more, no issue has loomed greater throught American history than that of racism. In recent decades, practices of social institutions as well as individuals tend to cause or perpetuate racial inequality. Though laws forbid discrimination against ethnic minorities, the problems still exist in a broad sense. While the white Anglo-Saxon Protestant occupies the majority, those African-Americans are subject to discrimination and have less than their proportionate share of scarce resources, which mainly include wealth, income, social status, political power and so on.
(3) Many other problems like high unemployment rates, widening wealth gap may also trouble America, thus they definitely merit serious consideration and active action to seek further resolution.
