Gap of selecting talents

As we can see clearly from the cartoon, students coming from 211 or 985 program universities seem to enjoy easier access to cross the cliffs, while students from ordinary universities have to take ropes to cross the gap with fear and anxiety on their faces.

This cartoon vividly demonstrates the social problem of selecting the talents according to the reputation of universities. Such gaps are prevalent in employment or applying for universities for a postgraduate degree both domestic and abroad. People prefer to choose students from prestigious universities, for they take it for granted that those students are talents with excellent ability in both study and work. They also claim that those students are deserved to earn higher salaries than other “ordinary” students. It‘s understandable that all companies or universities are thirst for talents.However, what lies in most is the current performance of the candidates instead of their background in the past.Otherwise, real geniuses will be depreciated.

It is high time that interviewers change this traditional idea of looking for talents only by their backgrounds. The society requires qualified job seekers in their real performance at work or studies.
