Passage Four
Which of the following descriptions is NOT true of cloning?
Cloning is the process of creating living organisms which are genetic copies of each other, through means other than sexual reproduction,其中最后的 other than sexual reproduction 的意思就是除了 sexual reproduction以外,这与选项B 完全对应。

Passage Four
Cloning is the process of creating living organisms which are genetic copies of each other, through means other than sexual reproduction. In simpler terms, cloning refers to the development of offsprings that are genetically identical to their parents. Just imagine, you could get a twin by cloning yourself. Parents who lose their children to death may get tempted to clone their dead child. Some may think of cloning Einstein and giving rise to a league of superhumans.
While cloning is often referred to as an unnatural process, it occurs quite often in nature. Identical twins are clones, for example, and asexual creatures are reproduced by cloning. Artificial human cloning, however, is both very new and complex. It is scary to many because no one knows if the clone will develop similar capabilities to its master clone, which is the purpose of artificial human cloning.
Is artificial cloning safe? Not yet. It took 277 unsuccessful embryo implantations to produce Dolly the Sheep in 1996. Apparently healthy at birth, Dolly was stricken with arthritis and lung cancer at an early age and had to be put down in 2003. Since Dolly, other animals have been subjected to cloning procedures with success, and have been found to always have abnormal organs.
But now comes news that biologists have turned mature animal cells into a special stem cell called "Totipotent". Stem cells can be grown to produce human organs. Totipotent is the most versatile of stem cells. It can develop into, any organ, such as an embryo, and hence give rise to a fully formed animal — in other words, a clone.
If so, the implications are huge. It promises an almost ridiculously simple route to regenerative medicine, which is studied and used in. treating conditions such as brain injury and type-1 diabetes, and is at the early stage of research for treatments of stroke, heart attack and hearing loss.
Why is cloning scary to many people?
It is scary to many because...(只是把cloning根据前文替换成了代词)。
Which of the following statements is true of Dolly?
Dolly ... and had to be put down in 2003 这两点。
What is the special function of the "Totipotent" stem cell?
Which of the following illnesses has been treated with regenerative medicine?
正确答案为选项A,在录音中有直接对应,即 which is studied and used in treating conditions such as brain injury。 选项 C、D 在录音中虽然有所提及,但前面有一个共同的限定性短语说只是在初级阶段,即 at the early stage of research for treatments of,所以都不是问题的答案。
