My Views on Suicidal Tendencies among Students

In the increasingly complex and stressed society, students are shouldering more and more pressure from various aspects of life and some of them have been suffering mental illness. As a result, an increasing number of reports of such suicide incidents come one after another. Greater concern should be aroused in our society and attention should be paid to the causes and solutions of suicidal tendencies.

Personally, I reckon that there are two reasons for suicidal tendencies. To begin with, the increasingly complex and stressed society put so much pressure on students that sometimes they cannot bear it any more, thus committing suicide. There is too much pressure in the real life: pressure from schoolwork, family and relationship with others. When these stresses are combined, students fall apart. Additionally, some students bearing great psychological pressure will go to extremes if they cannot be listened to or noticed. In the modern society, many people are trapped in their own business, even parents. They have little time to accompany and care for their children. At school, some students are too timid that they dare not pour out their emotions, let alone turning to psychological consultant for help. They fear that their illness will be exposed and they will be laughed at. Consequently, they will think that they are of no consequence and no one will notice them. Eventually, they have suicidal tendencies for escaping away from the cruel and indifferent world.

To tackle this problem, schools should carry out life education, through which students can be aware of the value, respect and love of life, learn how to keep harmony with themselves, others, society and the nature. Parents should spend more time with their children; love is the most precious for children. Also, parents should not push their children too hard; instead, they should give children more freedom and leisure time for their healthy growth. For the public, they should develop a sense of social responsibility and do their part in caring for others.

In conclusion, greater attention should be paid to students. The public, schools and parents should do their parts to eliminate suicidal tendencies of students.
