   In recent years, more and more parents spare no efforts to send their children to study abroad. Obviously, studying abroad has a number of rewards. In the first place, a student can have access to advanced science and technology which might not be available at home. While abroad, he can take courses he would never have the opportunity to take on his home campus. In the second place, he can be exposed to entirely new ideas and trends. The encounter with other cultures enables students to see their own culture through new eyes. Last but not least, by living and studying in a foreign country, one can improve his foreign language much faster than at home.
   However, there are still other parents who disagree. They are quite confident in our school education and insist on their children finishing study in our own country. They argue that the government has invested more on education over the last three decades and greatly improved the comprehensive educational strength. Besides, for some parents, they hold an idea that for those who have weak self-control and are more susceptible to some certain kinds of bad temptations, it would be better if they stay at home under the guidance of their parents.
   From my point of view, studying abroad is a good alternative if the family can afford the high expenditure and their children have good self-control.
