Time and Tide Wait for No Man
As we can see from the first picture, a strong middle-aged man is sitting in the sofa. He is dozing away leisurely, with a glass of wine in one hand, and a cigarette in the other. Apparently he is indulged in the idle life, living in great comfort. The second picture shows an entirely different scene. The middle-aged man is no longer strong. He has become a frail old man, still indulged in drinking and smoking, as we may see from the empty glass in his hand and piles of cigarette ends by the sofa.
The meaning of these pictures is very clear: Those who waste time are to be outdated by time. Time and tide wait for no man, and the lapse of time can never be regained.
In my opinion, the man in the picture has led a meaningless life. As the Chinese saying goes, time is as precious as gold. Everyone has decades of life, so in this sense time is equal to everyone. We young students should treasure the prime of our time, seizing every day, every minute. Only in this way, could we feel at ease at old age, leaving the word without any sorrow and regret.
