By using the title of "Just the Same", the artist describes the ordinary life of some high-school students: the same in holidays as in school days, the same in class as out of class, the same at ordinary time as in examination, the same at home as at school.
Apparently, the artist intends to criticize the abnormal phenomenon of Chinese school education—there is too heavy a burden for rite young students. What they have to do is just studying, regardless of time and circumstances, both at school and at home. By drawing such a cartoon, the artist intends to blame the drawbacks of our education system.
As it is known to all, there is a fierce competition at Chinese schools, especially for the high school graduates, who have to work hard to pass the matriculation examination for colleges and universities. Nevertheless, book-knowledge alone is not enough for the youths. In my opinion, an ideal education system should not only emphasize on studying but also develop students' all-round aptitudes. Only in this way, they are able to meet the challenge of the new century.
