Rescue crews pulled a man to safety after a collapseat a construction site in Brooklyn on Tuesday. Theincident happened on the 400 block of RutlandRoad just after 12:30 p.m. The Fire Department ofNew York says the vacant 100-year-old buildingbeing pulled down partially collapsed. A mandescribed as a “non-worker civilian” was buried upto his waist in the basement. The man wascollecting building materials when the first floorcollapsed underneath him. He was trapped under abeam about 10 feet below the surface for nearly anhour and a half. The man was then taken to hospital. Officials said he is in stable condition withnon-life threatening injuries. The building was reportedly purchased by a neighboring churchin 2011. It was the site of a 2006 fire and has remained vacant ever since.
