University Students’ Innovation

In recent years, the creativity of university students is always mentioned because of the fact that it is generally accepted that college students are largely deficient of the creative abilities. It seems that an increasing amount of the students are merely satisfied with comprehending or even copying others’ thinkings, ideas or achivements rather than developing something new of their own.
The main reason that gives rise to the issue refered above, in my view, is that colleges have not fully fulfilled their responsibilities to cultivate general, creative and qualified stuents and the university students are not active in innivative activities. All of these colleges’ attention are on the basis of the tests, which forces the students study more for their grades than for their synchronized qualities. As a result, most students have no enough time and energy to practise their creative abilities. There is no doubt in saying that without innovation, we will lack the competence we need to have a foothold in society. Therefore, only through innovation can we make ourselves competent and competitive. Owing to the serious issues we have to confront with, the whole society should take measures to solve it.
Colleges are supposed to pay more attention on the quality education. Therefore, I strongly suggest that school authorities take some actions to cultivate students’ scientific and technological innovation capacities. First, school authorities should establish a students’ scientific and technological innovation center and develop some programs that facilitate innovation activities. Secondly, as teachers play an essential role in generating new technology and new research approaches in their in-class instruction and create an environment for innivation-oriented learning, they are supposed to take active measures to create such channels. Thirdly, some leture topics should focus on fostering the transformation of knowledge into the products, processes, systems and services that fuel economic development, create wealth and generate improvements in the standard of living. Colleges and universities are making good efforts to strengthen the education of college students in innovation and entrepreneurship, helping them set up the thoughts of innovation and entrepreneurship and cultivating their consciousness of innovation and entrepreneurship, which meets the requirements of development of the era and the demand of market economy development, and also is the inevitable choice for the innovation-oriented construction of our country. At present, the traditional education mode of universities and colleges are raising their consciousness of innovation.
Innovation comes from hands-on practise. Thus, in the context of their ability, schools should operate more experimental course. Let students do hands-on practice and let them discover and solve the problems during the process of practice. And it is high time that we should set our mind free and stride forward to make oueselves join the stream of innovation.
