问答题
In this question, you will read a short passage, then listen to a lecture on the same topic, and then speak in response to a question about what you have read and heard. After you hear the question, you have 30 seconds to prepare your response and 60 seconds to speak.
Read the following passage from a textbook.
IMAGERY IN DANCE
Mental preparation, especially the use of imagery, is just as important as physical discipline for a dancer. Imagery is visualization, using the "mind"s eye" to create an internal picture. The use of mental imagery helps dancers discover a new range of possibilities within their bodies. One technique is to think of an object and identify with it, to become the object and move accordingly. Another technique is to focus on a particular part of the body, allowing that part to "lead" the motion. Imagery helps the dancer"s mind and body work together as a unit. Imagery develops awareness, increases expression, broadens technique, releases excess tension, and improves coordination.
Define imagery in dance, and explain how a dancer might use the image of a leaf and the image of water.
【正确答案】
【答案解析】Key points:
● Imagery is a type of mental preparation that dancers use. Imagery is visualization, using the "mind"s eye" to create an internal picture. Imagery helps the mind and body work together.
● A dancer can use the image of a leaf to imagine the leaf"s point of view, to become a leaf swept up and played with by the wind, and to float on air. The image of the leaf will control the dancer"s expression.
● A dancer can use the image of water to imagine slicing through water like a ship, splashing through water, or moving underwater like a fish. Images of water will give the dancer a wider range of techniques and may result in fewer muscle aches afterward.

There are certain basic images that will help you develop an awareness that will fill your whole body. Today I want you to choose an image and experiment with the image as much as possible.
For example, the image of a leaf. Don"t just think about all the different things a leaf can do. Identify with the leaf, find out what a leaf would do from the leaf"s point of view. Become a leaf swept up by the wind. Let the wind play with you and carry you. See yourself floating on the air, as light and carefree as a tiny leaf. The image of the leaf will control your expression.
Another powerful image is water. Imagine yourself slicing through water. Whatever body surface leads the movement—your head, your shoulders, or the palms of your hands—that part of your body is the bow of a ship cutting through the water. Or think of your feet and hands splashing through water. Or imagine you"re completely under water. Move underwater like a fish. Using different images of water will give you a wider range of techniques for expressing yourself. Some of my students have even reported having fewer muscle aches after using the water imagery.
