Job Hunting Stress

More and more college students, in recent years, are finding it difficult to find jobs. This may sound strange since college students used to be the “most favored” people in society. They have received a higher education, and they are more intelligent, knowledgeable than their counterparts who failed to attend college. But chances are so limited that some of them can hardly find jobs after graduating from colleges.

Finding a job has put a lot of pressure on college students, partly because the influx of graduates has reduced the number of job vacancies, and partly because students have higher and higher expectations for their ideal jobs. High expectations keep many people from finding the ideal job. As a result, some people choose to accept the job temporarily and wait for the opportunity to gradually find the right job, while others choose to keep looking until they are satisfied. These college students cannot come to terms with themselves and with the world around them. They pursue too high goals and are too particular about such factors as working conditions, salary, and so on. Therefore, they are reluctant to accept the job offered to them. What's more, with more students getting into the university, there's no shortage of an appropriate or suitable employee, so graduates face fierce competition. From this perspective, job hunting stress has become a common phenomenon in our society.

To solve this problem, I think college students should know their own strengths and weaknesses and have the right attitude towards themselves and the job vacancies. In addition, they should not attach too much importance to material aspects of the job. They should put priority to their future development and their contributions to society instead. Furthermore, they should think of receiving some further training to meet the demands of society. As far as I'm concerned, pressure is not only an obstacle but also a motive. Students who are in colleges must work harder than before to keep their competitiveness. Only in this way should we adapt to the competitive society. I believe through their hard work, they'll get a satisfied job. On the other hand, the government should take some measures to help college students who are finding their jobs. In addition, the employers should provide opportunities for students to get their first work experiences and develop their skills and potentials.

In a word, employment of college students is a social problem, which requires the joint efforts of all parties to get a good solution.
