There are a variety of strategies which have been suggested to try and combat the effects the Greenhouse Effect. A selection of these is listed below.
Plant more trees, and lower forest-clearing rates. Because trees breathe Carbon Dioxide, they are able to ‘soak up' a lot of excessive CO2 than the human being expels from the earth. The planting of more trees worldwide would allow more CO2 to be soaked up. However, this would not work unless tree-felling rates were significantly lowered worldwide.
The Ocean. While this option is not a strategy, it has been suggested and scientifically analyzed. What is proposed is that the ocean is able to soak up CO2 on its surface. While it was found that this is true, it was also found that it wouldn't soak CO2 up in high enough levels.
Rocks, While it has been suggested many times that an absorption method is used to ‘soak up' excessive CO2, the problem is that many of these solutions required power——one of the original greenhouse causes. But one method which is being proposed is one that uses rocks—which actually yields energy. This has not been widely tested, though.
A reduction in fossil fuel use. This method involves polities as well as science. There are alternatives available already to fossil fuels, such as a solar power, and electric ears. There are also a number of concepts, such as car-pooling. This would involve successful, worldwide support from almost all governments, and certainly the Tested Nations. As a solution, this method appears to be the best.
