Women Today

It’s universally acknowledged that women are playing an increasingly important part in today’s society. Gone are the days when women were only confined to the kitchen and looking after their husband and children at home. Instead, they have gone out their homes and engaged themselves in many posts such as drivers, doctors, scientists, top managers and even politicians which used to be dominated by men. Now it’s safe to say what men can do is equally done by women.

Along with the changes in their social role have come improvements of women’s positions in families as well. Today, wives are no longer subject to their husbands; they are equal in their families. They share the housework, make family decision and make joint efforts to deal with family problems. In other words, they share both sorrows and happiness together.

However, we couldn’t deny that the liberation of women has not been completely realized in spite of what have been mentioned above. In some regions women are still inferior to men in both family and social positions. Women are still limited to all kinds of household affairs deprived of the opportunity to work outside. What’s more, women usually can’t enjoy equal working conditions even they do the same jobs as men do. Women are still suffering all kinds of discrimination in job market. Therefore, it is still a long way to go for women to fight for their complete liberation.
