The exchange of intellectual property between China and the United States began in the 1980s. From 2004 onwards, through some forms, such as group meetings of China-US joint commission on commerce and trade, China and the United States deepen the exchange of intellectual property rights as well as promote the development of bilateral economic and trade. Strengthening dialogue and cooperation is the basic consensus between China and the United States to solve the problem of intellectual property protection. Mutual benefit and win-win based on equality, respect, rationality and openness should be the cooperative ideology and cooperation mode between China and the United States in the field of intellectual property.
In the era of economic globalization, the economic dependency and integration among regions and countries increase day by day. The issue of intellectual property has surpassed the boundary of a certain country or region and become a worldwide problem. The rise and development of new technologies such as Internet has brought great impacts and challenges to the intellectual property protection of all countries, including both developed countries and developing countries.
As the world' s largest developed country and the largest developing country respectively, the United States and China share common interests in encouraging innovation and protecting of intellectual property rights. We, continuing to uphold the concept of equality, respect, rationality, and open cooperation and adhering to mutually beneficial and win-win cooperation model, are willing to work with the United States to build a better platform for business community of the two countries and create a better environment by constantly trying new forms of cooperation, expanding new areas of cooperation, working closely and reacting positively. All this can contribute to retaining harmony and balance of international intellectual property system and the stability and flourishing of bilateral economic and trade relations.
