【正确答案】Many college students complain about examinations on campus. They regard examination as a sort of mental burden under which they study. However, as far as I am concerned, I believe that examination is a very effective way to evaluate the effects of learning and teaching.
The results of examinations can provide both learners and teachers with a clear picture of how well they have done their work. In spite of a few exceptions, we generally recognize that students scoring high in examinations are those who have worked hard, and those receiving dissatisfactory marks are those who have failed to study diligently. Examinations can serve to push both good and bad students to work harder in that they encourage the former and pressurize the latter. In addition, examinations help tell teachers where in their teaching they have not worked hard enough. For example, when most students in a class cannot correctly use the future perfect tense, that will mean the teacher has not done enough drills in that particular aspect of grammar.
Despite what has been said in the above, there should not be any overuse of examinations in colleges. If teachers give examinations too frequently, they will really kill students' interest in learning.
