【正确答案】A: For me, interest in the job comes before anything else. I believe that it is a great pleasure to do what I enjoy doing and it would be a great pain to have to work on something I don't like. If not interested, I would lose my enthusiasm for the job, and nothing would stimulate me to work hard.
B: I quite agree with you. It is interest and enthusiasm in a job that ensures success in it. But don't you care for money?
A: What I mean is that interest is the first concern for me to consider when choosing a job. But I'm not saying that I don't care at all for money. I will do, but not now. I think my own humble needs are easily satisfied as I'm not a family man yet. I don't have to toil day and night in order to support a big family. I wouldn't work for a better life but rather for a better mind. What is the first thing you would like to consider when choosing a job?
B: I would put self-fulfillment first. In order to do that, I think, first, I should be qualified for the job. I would put what I've learned from books into practice. Second I should also learn something new, so that I could improve myself gradually and keep up with the recent development in the field concerned.
A: Self-fulfillment is really very important, but I don't think it necessary to have a job just in your field of study. I like challenges all the time. And moreover, if you are interested in the job, you can always manage to do it well. By the way, don't you mind the social status so far as a job is concerned?
B: Frankly speaking, I hate to be looked down upon by others. So when I look for a job, I will definitely take that into consideration.
A: I'm sorry I don't agree with you on this point. I do everything in my own way and will not be influenced by others. And I think a man successful in his career will sooner or later be recognized for the good he has done for society. Such recognition will make him proud of his work. Then, what about the location of the job?
B: I have to confess that I will definitely take it into consideration. I hope the work place won't be far away from my home. I don't want to take too much time on the way to work. Furthermore, I have to take my daughter to school on time every morning.
A: But I don't think that so important as you supposed. I could even work in another city because I don't mind staying far away from home. I want to be more independent, to live a life of my own, without too much parental interference. But a good work environment is necessary, including the location of the office, the atmosphere in the office and so on.
B: You see, we are much different from each other in choosing a job, as I'm older than you. That might be the generation gap!
