According to the law and regu-
lations, items that pose threats to the security of passengers are not al- lowed to be taken into subway trains. However, food and drinks will do no harm to passengers" safety, and therefore should not be forbidden. Besides, it is every citizen"s right to eat and drink on public transporta- tion. This right should not be de- prived of by the government. When passengers have to travel by subway for a long time, it is necessary for them to eat and drink. If food and drinks are for- bidden, it will cause inconven- ience to some elderly passengers and children. In addition, in order to save time many young people have to eat breakfast on subway trains when they go to work in the morning. The new regulation will affect their normal life and work. |
It is every citizen"s responsibil-
ity to build a clean and healthy pub- lic environment. Some passengers bring food and drinks on subway trains and litter everywhere. This in- appropriate behavior makes the sub- way trains messy and untidy. For tourists who travel by subway, they will inevitably have a terrible im- pression of this city. The subway carriage is a rela- tively closed space, and therefore any unpleasant smell can easily spread inside it and cause uncomfort- able feelings among passengers. Some food and drinks, such as the steamed buns or some other traditional Chinese breakfast, often carry strong smell. Although for people who are eating and drinking, it is of no harm, for others, the unpleasant smell may make them sick. |
