Since the foundation of New China and the promotion of reform and openning-up policy, China has eradicated various bad habits and removed many stereotypes. However, the insidious gender discrimination still influences our daily life, which descends from the tradition that women are inferior to men. However, with the economic and technological development, gender discrimination will not run wild in the not long future.

Our country historically weighs agriculture much. Now, industry replaces agriculture. Both of them are labor- intensive. Due to the physical difference between female and male and current situations of our country, men are always given priority in working market, thus making female underdogs. What follows is a bad impression that women earn less than men and cost much. Some evil and filthy men even describe women as clothes and toy. Then the discrimination forms.

Nowadays, fortunately, with more and more international exchanges, Chinese women are influenced by foreign values that all men and women are created equal that they have the same right to pursue happiness, equality and freedom. The rapid development of the tertiary industry and the improvement of education also offer women more opportunity to be independent and earn their dignity. What’ s more, according to scientific research, female brain is no less but even more intelligent than the male, so if women gain enough confidence in themselves, they are not a bit less capable than men. Actually, women have already made colossal contribution to the career of creation such as literature. There are also excellent but low-profile female scientists.

Though the fact that delivering a baby puzzles millions of working female, as the technology is advancing, vitro fertilization is no longer a dream such as test tube baby. With the equipment of sophisticated technology, women will get rid of long period of unemployment, which is a major weakness of all women when bosses choose their employees.

In short, the goal of gender equality will be realized. But now, we should not succumb to the reality but to bear in mind the old saying that if you are gold, you will be found whenever and wherever. The most important is that we should have spontaneity to change the current situation of gender discrimination.
