EXAMINER: Good afternoon.
CANDIDATE: Good afternoon.
EXAMINER: Can you tell me your full name please?
CANDIDATE: Yeah my name is Phillip Bowen.
EXAMINER: Can I see your identification please?
CANDIDATE: Yep ... here it is.
EXAMINER: Thank you. That's fine. Now in this first part, I'd like to ask you some questions about yourself.
CANDIDATE: OK.
EXAMINER: To begin with, let's talk about relatives. Do you have a lot of relatives?
CANDIDATE: Well I think I've got slightly more than most people because my mother and father got divorced a few years ago and since then my mum's remarried and my father's remarried. So I've got double the family of anyone else, yeah.
EXAMINER: Are any of them of similar age to you?
CANDIDATE: The only relative with the same sort of age as me is my older sister, who's two years older and she's just had a baby.
EXAMINER: Did you spend a lot of time with them when you were young?
CANDIDATE: I spent a fair bit of time with my older sister when I was a child, but I moved out when I was 16 so not a great deal.
EXAMINER: Do you see them often now?
CANDIDATE: Not in the last few years because I've been living abroad and teaching English for a few years now.
EXAMINER: When you do see them what kinds of things do you do together?
CANDIDATE: Well since she's had a child I like to go and visit her and play with them and maybe take a toy over and talk to the children and see how they're getting on.
EXAMINER: Let's move on to technology. Do you enjoy using the latest technological gadgets?
CANDIDATE: Absolutely. I can't spend a month without going to my local electronic shop and buying some useless gadget that I'm going to keep on me and love it like I love my own children.
EXAMINER: Do you make an effort to keep up with technology?
CANDIDATE: Only by visiting the shops regularly and reading the technology section of my favourite newspaper. But I don't actually subscribe to any catalogues or anything like that.
EXAMINER: Right, let's move on to diet. Would you say you have a healthy diet?
CANDIDATE: Absolutely not. I think that they recommend that people eat five pieces of fruit per week ... ah per day. And I think I probably have five pieces of fruit per year if I'm lucky.
EXAMINER: Are there any foods that you try to avoid?
CANDIDATE: I try to avoid anything healthy or anything that's going to make me feel energised and doesn't contain enough sugar.
EXAMINER: Right. Are there any dietary habits that you have now which you would like to give up?
CANDIDATE: Abso ... I'd love to start eating more fish and more fruit and vegetables and try to cut down on the junk food that I eat. I'm trying my best but it's a bit difficult at the moment.
