What Events Make a Person an Adult?

Everyone agrees that children and adults are two different phases of human life, while opinions vary when it comes to the question of what events can mark the difference between the two. Some people think physical change is the decisive factor, while others argue that mental differences are what really matters.
To begin with, physical change is the most obvious aspect when a child grows into an adult, and most people regard it as the dividing line between the two phases. Small children all have tender skin and small bone structures, while the frames of grown-ups are noticeably larger.
There is another factor that signifies the change, which is the maturity of one"s mind. Adults are able to weigh all of the options and deduce the right choice, while children can"t make decisions that are best for themselves. The maturity of the mind is brought by the extensive experiences a person goes through. They make mistakes as well as obtain achievements, and they fail as well as succeed, all of which contribute to their changing from children into adults.
From my point of view, both the factors discussed above play a role in this changing process, while the most decisive one is the latter, that is, the maturity of one"s mind. No matter how grown-up a person is physiologically, he or she will not be regarded as an adult if not having a mind that is mature enough.
