Supporting Equality in Education of China

In recent years, the problems which are caused by the inequality of education opportunity have attracted the public's attention. For instance, the backward teaching facilities and dilapidated school buildings in rural areas are in sharp contrast to those advanced facilities and well-equipped classrooms in urban areas, students from poor families cannot go to universities because of the high tuition. Educational equality, also referred to as equality in education, is a measure of achievement, fairness and opportunity in education. The growing importance of education equality is based on the premise that now, more than ever before, an individual's level of education is directly correlated to the quality of life he or she will leave in the future. The issue of educational equality has become more and more significant nowadays with the rapid development of our economy, and it has been put forward in governmental occasions several years before.

Educational equality depends on two main factors. The first is equity, which means that a specific element of personal circumstances should not be related to the potential for learning success. The second important factor is inclusion. In a particular education system, a comprehensive standard is applied to represent everyone. These two factors are closely related and are related to the true academic success of an education system.

The pursuit of fairness in education is an important issue in China. Communists are born “fair”. It promotes egalitarianism and has had some success, but educational equality in China is nominally equivalent to a very low level, and China's inequality of education remains a major challenge despite its overall improvement of education service. Deputies to the National People's Congress, China's top legislature, and they must assume responsibility in maintaining the country's education. Our leaders must “become more acute” and “professional” in the present political system. We can also see many changes in the educational system. The government's spending on education has been increased and the allocation of public resources has given priority to rural and weak urban schools. The implementation of the government financial aid system for students has been accelerated. Furthermore, the government has speeded up education reforms to ensure everyone has equal access to schools.

It is fundamental for the health of the next generation. Turning schools into truly egalitarian institutions requires a holistic and long-term approach. The children need us to solve our education problem. We should overcome the barriers in education and give every child a chance to succeed. There is still a long way to go for sake of overcoming the perplexity of educational injustice. Without withstanding, we are bound to accomplish it with fortitude.
