My Views on Keeping a Pet

Recently, a problem of keeping a pet has been discussed by more and more people. People’s Opinions on this phenomenon vary from person to person. Some people believe that keeping a pet is beneficial to citizens while others argue that keeping pets is a harmful thing. As for me, I prefer the first opinion. Why I think so can be generalized into two parts.

On the one hand, there is no doubt that keeping pets can relieve loneliness and reduce pressures. With the development of the modern society, young people have so much work to do so that they have little time to company their parents, which will let senior people feel lonely. If senior people keep a pet at home, they can walk the pet or talk to the pet when they are alone at home. For young people, if they have too much pressure while they do not want to tell friends and parents, they can talk to their pets who can keep the secrets.

On the other hand, it goes without any questions that keeping pets can let children be more prepared to handle the responsibility. Nowadays, most children are the only child in their own family. They have no chance to get along with their brothers or sisters. Children in such situation may become selfish. If they keep a pet at home, they must feed them on time and spend time companying them, which will let children completely grow up.

From what has been discussed above, we may come to the conclusion that keeping pets can not only relieve senior people’s loneliness, but also can let children completely grow up and be more prepared to handle the responsibility.
