Jill:It's a book about the future.
Nick:Sounds cool.So what will the future be like?
Jill: Well,cities will be more crowed and polluted.There will be fewer tree s and the environment will be in great danger.
Nick: That sounds bad: Will we have to move to other planets? Jill:Maybe.But I want to live on the earth.
Nick: Me too.Then what can we do?
Jill: we can use less water and plant more trees. Everyone should play a part in saving the earth.
1. Knowledge aims:Ss will be able to understand the conversation talking about future and Ss will learn necessary listening skills through this lesson.
Ability aims:Ss’abilities of listening, speaking will be improved and Ss will be able to talk about future environment and protection.
Emotion aims: Ss are encouraged to think about the future of the earth and their awareness of protecting environment will be aroused.
2. Teaching proccdurcs:
Step I lead-in: T plays a video/ shows sonic pictures about the condition of the earth and invites Ss have a free talk about the recent environment conditions.

Step 2 Pre-listening: T invites Ss to think about what will happen to our earth and predict about the following listening material.

Step 3 While-listening: Ist listening-Ss listen to the tape for the first time and get the main idea and confirm their predictions.

2nd listening-Ss listen again carefully and answer the following questions:
Q1 : What will the future be like? Q2: Will people have to move to other planets?
Q3: What can we do?
设计意图:通过问答活动帮助学生加深细节内容理解。
3nd listening-Ss listen to the tape and imitate the conversation and read it in pairs.
设计意图:成对分角色跟读锻炼学生的口语表达能力,加深课文情感理解。
Step 4 Post-reading: Ss, working in groups of four, apply for a position of chairman of an environment organization. They are required to give a public speech about how to protect the environment. T and others will be
the judges and choose the suitable candidate.
设计意图:创设竟聘环境保护组织主席的情境,学生分小组讨论后进行展示,学生和教师选出最佳人选,有利于培养学生综合语言运用能力。
Step 5 summary: Ss will be encouraged to summarize what thye have learnt and T makes supplement if necessary and encourage Ss to protect our environment.

Step 6 Homework: Ss can make a survey in their communities about how people protecting the earth and share with others next class.
