The first diagram indicates the life cycle of silkworms whilst the second illustrates how silk is produced.
From the first diagram, we can see that silkworm moths lay eggs on mulberry leaves. These eggs take about ten days to hatch into silkworm larvae and thereafter eat mulberry leaves. After four to six weeks, the silkworm larvae create cocoons of silk thread. This process takes between three and eight days to complete. The larvae then remain inside the cocoons for sixteen days before emerging as fully developed moths.
The second diagram shows us that the first process in making silk cloth is to select the cocoons and boil them in water. Afterwards, the cocoons are taken out of the water and the silk thread is unwound, each cocoon producing 300 to 900 metres of thread. These threads are twisted together and woven together into silk cloth. The threads or the cloth can be dyed various colours as required.
