According to an investigation into the sources of income of college students, nearly half of the Australian students' income comes from their parents and thirty two percent from part-time jobs. In my opinion there are two main reasons for this phenomenon. In Australia, students when they are still children are taught to be independent while Chinese parents care so much for their children that it is almost impossible to live on their own. Of course, we have also to consider our own situations. Chinese students have fewer opportunities to find part-time jobs. Adding to this, both teachers and students' parents encourage them to spend their time on books rather than go to the society to do a part time job to earn money.
