单选题 Why does the student first begin talking with the dormitory staff person?
【正确答案】 C
【答案解析】[听力原文]
Mail

Student: I"m all finished with finals now, so I will be packing up to go home.
Staff: I hope you did well on your exams and hope you have a nice summer.
Student: Thanks. Oh, by the way. Since I"m a freshman, I don"t know what to do with my mail for the summer.
Staff: Well, you should probably have it forwarded, that is, if you want anything that is coming here to the dorm. Most students either have mail forwarded or wait for us to forward it when it arrives. Not too many let it stay here during the summer.
Student: I"m not sure there will be anything of value in the mail. It seems as if all I get is junk mail, you know, ads and coupons and flyers for stuff I am not interested in buying.
Staff: Well, I"m not sure I would suggest that mail not be forwarded. What if you have something important that comes here and then you don"t get it in time?
Student: Well, you said you forward it.
Staff: Yes, we do. But, you have to remember that we are not fully staffed during the summer even though some students will be living here while they are in summer school. So what that means is that the mail may or may not be sorted on a regular basis. It may even mean that mail will be put into a big box and then about once a month it will be gone through and readdressed to your home address. That will mean that if you get a bill from the university that needs to be paid right away, it might not reach you in time.
Student: I don"t think the university sends me any mail here but then I really haven"t asked my parents if they get mail at home from the university.
Staff: I would suggest that you call home. You have a cell phone, don"t you? And ask if your university mail, grades, invoices, and notification of other information all go to your home address or whether your parents think it might come to you here at the dorm.
Hmmm... Do you usually take care of paying your tuition, or do your parents?
Student: Well, I think I did.
Staff: Okay... that probably means your university mail comes here. And, that would mean to me ... if I were you, that I would want to have my mail forwarded home and not held until you return in the fall.
Student: Well, I guess I should.
Staff: Now, the next question is whether you want to have us forward it about once a month or whether you want the post office to take care of forwarding it to you.
Student: I"m not even sure where the post office is in this town. Whenever I"ve had something to mail, I have just left it here at the front desk.
Staff: I do have some forms for forwarding mail, if you are interested.
Student: Well, I could take the form home with me and then send it back.
Staff: I will give you the form and then you can decide what you want to do. You might want to think about stopping at the post office when you leave town. But, I am sure you can mail it back once you get home, too. I understand that as a freshman you may not see the value of forwarding your mail home, but I really would suggest it rather than have it pile up here and not get to you timely.
Student: Well, I guess you are right.
Staff: Another thing you might consider doing is to go online and forward it by going to the post office site on the computer.
Student: Of course! That would be so easy. I am really sorry I didn"t think of that. Thanks for your suggestion.
