Look at the chart below and decide which particular pathways you would like to take in an English class to improve your students’ multiple intelligences. Discuss how many different intelligences are involved and at what level.
I would like to take the activity: draw a map of a shopping center. It involves linguistic intelligences, spatial intelligences, and interpersonal intelligences.
When the students are drawing a map of a shopping center, they have to tell the direction, such as east, west, south and north. They also have to draw the location of buildings and shops. Such activity can develop students’ spatial intelligences.
The students are asked to label all the objectives in English and describe their own pictures, which develop their language intelligences.
When one student describes his or her own pictures, his or her partner has to draw. The pair work can develop students’ interpersonal intelligence.
