【正确答案】Sample Essay-Agree
I agree with this statement. In my opinion, the teachers at a school are the most important factors in determining whether or not it is successful. I feel that way for a couple of reasons.
The first reason is very simple. Good teachers can provide their students with quality educations. When teachers lecture well and make their classes interesting, they can provide students with the information they need to be successful in the future. When my older sister was in high school, she attended a school with a bad reputation. During her first year, she did not learn very much. However, the school hired several new teachers during her second year. Those teachers were outstanding educators, so the students at the school, including my sister, all started learning well. By the time my sister graduated, her school had acquired a reputation for being a great place to get a good education.
A second reason teachers are important is that they can help motivate students and make them want to learn. When I was younger, I did not really care about math as I thought it was hard and boring. Then, one year, my math teacher suddenly got me interested in learning the subject by showing me how important math is and teaching me some great ways to learn it. Thanks to him, I started trying harder in math, and I am even a member of my school's math club now.
A third reason is that bad teachers can cause schools to fail in their principal mission, which is to educate students. One of my cousins hates attending school because many of her teachers are terrible and do not even teach half the time. Instead, they just tell the students to read their books and to study by themselves. Unsurprisingly, that school has an awful reputation, and lots of its students are trying to transfer to other places.
Teachers are clearly of great importance to the success of a school. Good teachers can both provide their students with excellent educations and motivate them to do better while bad teachers can cause schools to fail because of their inability or unwillingness to teach their students. I cannot think of any factor more important to the success of a school than the teachers that work at it.
Sample Essay-Disagree
I believe teachers are important to schools, but I do not agree with the statement. I do not think that the success of a school depends upon its teachers for a few reasons.
First of all, most teachers are not really that important to the learning process. For the most part, my teachers only repeat the information that is contained in the books. For instance, there is virtually no reason for me to attend my history class if I read the day's lesson in the textbook before class begins. The reason is that my history teacher just reads from the book and then asks us a few questions. Even though he is a poor teacher, history is my favorite subject, and I feel like I am learning the topic. I simply do not need my teacher though.
Another reason is that schools with modern facilities have little need for teachers. Many schools these days have computer laboratories where students can access the Internet, and they have libraries and science labs, too. So students can get most of the information they need from the Internet. They can read books in their school libraries, and they can conduct experiments in their science labs. That is what my older brother does. He does not pay much attention to his teachers but instead conducts the majority of his learning by himself.
Finally, students who are motivated to study realize that they do not have to depend on their teachers for their educations. My best friend is one of the most self-motivated people I have ever met. She always does extra work that the teachers do not ask for. When she becomes interested in a topic, she studies it as hard as she can by herself. She has gotten perfect grades every year, and she is the top student at my school. But her teachers have had virtually nothing to do with her success. Some of them even tell her that she should slow down and study less.
I disagree with the statement because I believe that teachers do not determine the success of a school. I think other factors, including motivation and modern facilities, are much more crucial to the success of a school than teachers are.
