Nowadays, it seems that we live in a "throw-away" society, where we use things once and throw them away even before they are broken. We would buy new things instead of repairing them and reusing them.
I think this phenomenon is caused by the following reasons. Firstly, with the development of the economy, people"s living standard improves. They have enough money to spend on articles for daily use. It"s unnecessary to repair the old or broken things. Secondly, owing to the huge pressure from work and social life, people regard it a waste of time to repair broken things. So they just throw them away out of convenience. Another important factor responsible for this phenomenon is that we have moved to a high-technological society. Many things, especially electronic equipment, are upgraded frequently. So people discard out-of-date televisions, cell phones, and so on, in exchange of new ones.
Doubtlessly, this phenomenon will arouse some negative consequences. If we continue to throw old things away, we are filling the environment with more rubbish than we can dispose of, which will result in a high price for cleaning the rubbish. Secondly, the household expenses will be increased if we often buy new things instead of repairing old things for reuse. Lastly, as more resources are being exploited, they will be used up in the end. Therefore, a disaster will come if all people keep this "throw-away" habit.
