TV Commercials for Luxury Products Should not be Banned

In recent 30 years, Chinese economy has gained a huge momentum and made great achievements. However, there are a lot of problems in Chinese economy such as the widening gap between rich and poor. Some people even hold the view that some TV commercials for luxury products such as posh cars and expensive jewelry should be banned because they make people more aware of the increasingly widening gap between the poor and the rich and such awareness does no good to the construction of a harmonious society in China. As far as I’ m concerned, I am against this kind of view. TV commercials for luxury products should not be banned because they do goods to our economy and propel governments to find solution to this problem. 

First of all, the widening gap between the poor and the rich does exist and is becoming severer and severer. What we should focus on is not the TV commercials that remain us of this problem but solutions to close the gap between the rich and the poor. Putting a ban on TV commercials is not the solution that can totally solve this problem. Second, TV commercials are aimed for stimulating people to buy something. By TV commercials, we can know the fact that there is a huge gap between the rich and the poor, which can propel the governments to find solutions to it. We should have the courage to confront with the problem. Third, producers want to attract more customers to buy their products by TV commercials. Luxury products such as posh cars and expensive jewelry can bring benefits to our economy. If someone buys a product, this shows that there are profits for producers to make and they will continue to produce such products. If they want to produce such products, they have to employ worker and designers to work for them, which create many jobs and reduce employment rate. 

In a word, the gap between the rich and the poor is real and we have to face it and try to find the solution to it. TV commercials serve as a remainder of the problem for us, and when we see those commercials, we are aware of the fact that there is a widening gap between the rich and the poor. Moreover, TV commercials are good for selling luxury products, which will offer some jobs for unemployed workers.
