When you try to figure out why some people are more successful in life than others, you will find there are many factors that can contribute to their success, such as diligence, honesty, intelligence and so forth. But personally I believe self-confidence is the most important factor among all for the following reasons.
The first reason is that confidence gives people the courage to try new things. Most success stories nowadays tend to contain the elements of thinking outside the box, which invariably involves some risk-taking that is usually what it takes to succeed.
Another reason is that a confident person generally has a more positive outlook and rarely gives up. In the face of adversities and failure confident people are better at maintaining their optimism and finding alternative approaches to a challenge. When they fail, they simply try again and again until they win.
A final reason is that confident people are skillful at presenting their achievements and themselves. This is not to say that they like to show off and brag. A person with confidence is able to show confidently yet gracefully to the world their accomplishments in life. This would certainly help them become more confident.
In short, I believe self-confidence is the most important factor to success. Being confident gives people the courage to take risks and innovate and overcome failure. Confidence itself is an appealing quality that opens doors to more opportunities for success. With these abilities, a confident person can succeed more easily at school or work.
