Science vs. Arts

Frankly speaking, it is a controversial question whether the contributions of artists are more or less then the contributions of scientists to the society. We cannot deny that artists and scientists both make huge contribution to the society, although their contributions are in quite different forms. However, in my opinion, the contributions scientists made to society are more obvious than those made by artists and are valued more by our society. It may seem sometimes that artists are more valued. That‘s because those artists always enjoy much fame and wealth. However, they are relatively few. The fact is that scientists are more valued with their creative and irreplaceable inventions.

The scientists do various research which helps reveal the mystery of the nature and give us the insight of the law of the universe. Scientists‘ work often leads to the advanced technology which is constantly shaping the human life. All humankind is indebted to the scientists because of their work and achievements. Scientists make our life easier. We have cars and airplanes to move fast from one place to another. We have microwaves and a bunch of preprocessed food to make the cooking much easier. We have different devices that simplify all we do. In addition, to some extent scientists even contribute a lot to the arts---without technological progress; there wouldn‘t have been movie centers, television, and mp3 players which infuse art into ordinary people‘s lives.

Of course, the work of artists is not to change the life but to decorate people‘s life and help make the world a more beautiful place, which should also be valued. The music, painting, architecture, poems, novels all are the diverse forms of the artwork by the artists. Life would be so boring without their masterpiece.

To sum up, owing to the significant contribution made by scientists, they are and should be valued more by our society.
