"Yan! Yan!" Somebody was calling out my name. I blinked open my eyes, fumbled(摸索)around the table for the digital clock: 2 a.m. ! Not a sound was heard in the stillness of night. Picking up the receiver, I punched 9-1-1. The phone was answered on the second ringing.
A reassuring female voice said, "Hello, how may I help you?
"I've got a lady here who's having a dizzy spell. Could you send someone over?"
"Any feeling of nausea (恶心) or difficulty to breathe?" I checked with Helen and said no. "How old is the lady?"
"In her seventies."
"I will send the ambulance over right away. But please don't try to move her until the paramedics(护理人员) arrive, OK?"
I gave her the address, thanked her and hung up.
