Knowledge and Diplomas

    It is generally believed that a high diploma guarantees a promising future. Some people connect high diplomas with profound knowledge and exceptional competence. Companies also tend to emphasize the academic achievement of a job candidate. Like it or not, there does exist a social reality—the higher diploma one gets, the more popular he becomes.

    On the contrary, other people claim that having a high diploma doesn't mean having extensive knowledge. A diploma, in their eyes, is only an acknowledgment of one's educational experience rather than a guarantee of one's ability.

    So I must say no one should equate a diploma with knowledge. Genuine knowledge needs lifelong learning.

    人们普遍认为，高文凭会保证光明的前途。有些人把高文凭与渊博的知识和非凡的能力联系在一起。公司也倾向于强调求职者的学业成就。不管你喜欢与否，确实存在一种社会现实——一个人获得的文凭越高，他就越受欢迎。

    相反，其他人声称拥有高文凭并不意味着拥有广泛的知识。在他们看来，文凭只是对一个人教育经历的承认，而不是对一个人能力的保证。

    所以我必须说，任何人都不应该把文凭和知识等同起来。真正的知识需要终身学习。
