The Advantages and Disadvantages of Wearing Uniforms at Work

Nowadays, many companies require their employees to wear uniforms at work. Some people are in favor of this requirement while others take an opposite side. As far as I'm concerned, there are both advantages and disadvantages to wear uniforms during working hours.
On the one hand, wearing uniforms is beneficial to the companies as well as the employees. Firstly, the uniform conveys a company's brand identity visually and serves as a form of advertising. Secondly, wearing uniforms is an effective way to save time and money, especially for the female employees. As we all know, women tend to be particular about their clothes and they would spend plenty of time and money on their clothes if they are not compelled to wear uniforms. On the other hand, wearing uniforms denies employees' right to individuality because the uniforms are usually characterized by dull color, tasteless design and non-customized size. For example, many waitresses' uniforms that are not cut according to their measurements obscure their slender figures and make them look bulky. Therefore, it is quite clear that wearing uniforms at work has merits as well as demerits just as every coin has two sides.
Taking both of them into account, I suggest that the companies should offer uniforms catering for the taste of most employees.
