To Be a Housewife or a Career Woman?

There is a long-running debate as to whether women should be stay-at-home moms or full time working moms. Some argue that women should take more responsibilities for the family and they are supposed to stay at home to take care of their husbands and children. Others believe that women should choose to be career women to realize their social values. As far as I am concerned, either being a full time working or a stay-at-home mom is worthwhile, but it is better for individual development of women to have a job.
Firstly, all men and women are created equal. It is not fair that women always take more responsibility and do more housework for the family. Sometimes, women choose to be stay-at home moms just because the old and the biased idea force them to do so. All men should share the housework with their wives and it will become less difficult for women to balance their job and responsibilities for family.
Secondly, there are many disadvantages for being housewives or stay-at-home moms. Because they do not have a job, women do not have any income and they must rely on their husbands, which may enable these women to be dependent and unconfident. Because they are busy with the housework, they do not have much time in learning and communication, and they may be detached from the society.
Thirdly, being career women or full time working moms will bring many benefits.The most direct benefit is the increase of the family income and it will provide a better material condition for children. For women, the income means their economic independence and they may become more confident. The second benefit is that people always realize their dreams or values through their jobs. Women can develop their potentials and try to realize their goals in the work, which makes life more meaningful.The third benefit can be shown that work can create challenges and opportunities. On the one hand, different tasks require women to learn and to update their knowledge, and therefore, the work may enhance their abilities and enable them to make progress; on the other hand, compared with staying at home, having a job means having more opportunities to meet and to communicate with others like colleagues and clients which may become friends.
In conclusion, women can choose to be stay-at-home moms or full time working moms, but being career women will benefit themselves and their family better.
