Nowadays, with the increasing popularity of WeChat, many students who make friends on Internet think friends on the Internet are more important and interesting than friends they have in real life. As far as I’m concerned, I think that WeChat friends are the same as those you have in real life. After all, WeChat friends also live in the real world.
It is said that through WeChat, we can have access to people who have more points with us. Thus it becomes far more relaxing and interesting to communicate with others online. For example, some people may love playing the plane-shooting game on WeChat, but have no interest in playing flying chess with their classmates. But this kind of thought is partial. There are also WeChat friends who don’t like playing flying chess,either. And on the opposite, there are also some people who love playing the plane-shooting game in your daily life. The reason why some people think like that is that they dare not to communicate with real friends in their daily life.
For teenagers who are preparing to enter this world, social skill is the most fundamental to express ideas and cooperate with others. Lacking this skill can keep people out of normal social life and should result in a sense of solitude and rejection. So those who have numerous friends online actually can’t find company offline so they have to turn to social networking so as to meet their need or communication. Those people lost themselves in the virtual world. They are dragged out of the real life, isolated from society and real life. Their social circle is surely to be confined in a small area if they continue not to go out to meet friends or make new acquaintance.
This lack of social experience is likely to affect teenagers in a bad way because they don’t have experience on empathy and sympathy. So when they get into society, this kind of ignorance can make them indifferent and unsympathetic. If this indifference became a common phenomenon, I couldn’t imagine how hard life would be.
So in my opinion, I disagree with the saying that “WeChat friends are more interesting than those you have in real life?” The saying reflects a fact that teenagers in contemporary society pay too much attention to virtual world rather than the real world. They are supposed to be more concerned with real friends. The colorful world and lovely people are what they should embrace.
