Theoretical background: Functional theory
Learning Situation Analysis: There are 30 students in one class in Grade 6, with 16 males and 14 females. The students are very active in class and have much interest in English.
Teaching Objectives: Students master the usage of “what do you do” and other vocabularies related to career.
Teaching Method: top-down grammar presentation
Teaching Procedures:
(1) Use pictures to lead students to knowing some words about career. (10min)
(2) List some related dialogues and lead students to guessing the meaning of the sentences. (10min)
(3) Explain the grammar carefully. (10min)
(4) Listen to the tape and do the matching. (10min)
Design Description: the top-down method is used in order to encourage students to find the grammatical rules by themselves and is good for students to get involved.
