Soichiro Honda, the man who founded the Honda motor company, has been described as a maverick in a nation of conformists. In 1948 Honda Motor began manufacturing small motorcycles. These were dismissed by the dominant American and British manufacturers of the time, but in reality the inexpensive imports brought new people to motorcycling and changed the industry forever.
