【正确答案】WTO Means Chances as Well as Challenges
Last week I read an article in a magazine, in which the author described the future of China concerning WTO. While discussing the challenges that China will face, he was too pessimistic about the existing enterprises. I just couldn't agree with him on his point that most of the existing enterprises in China will close down.
I think that, after joining WTO, China faces more chances than challenges. Firstly we should not neglect that China is obligated to open markets gradually to the 135 WTO member nations in one or two years. Chinese enterprises may make full use of the limited time to study their foreign competition rivals and to practice reform and innovation, that is, to improve their own management and product quality. It is a natural law that, under the pressure of survival, man will be more creative, diligent, efficient. Under the pressure of life-and-death competition, enterprises will surely take effective measures to build up strength to meet the challenge. China's auto industry is a good example. Quite a few auto manufacturers are adopting advanced international models of management, introducing top technology and following international quality standards. They will soon turn out cars of brand new models with best quality and at the lowest price. When China auto market has been fully opened to foreign manufacturers a few years later, Chinese auto markets can surely hold their positions firmly. Secondly, while China opens its markets, the other WTO member countries must also open their markets. Traditionally China has been a large exporter of textile fabric, articles of everyday use, electrical home appliances, children's toys, agricultural products, etc. Their powerful products will surely occupy larger shares of markets in each WTO country.
From the above examples, we can see that challenges and chances coexist. Many Chinese enterprises can survive after practising reform and innovation. In the long run, China can benefit from WTO. I am very optimistic about China's future.
