At the present time, more and more people of the younger generation are obsessed with the so-called “X-sport”, which stand for the extreme sport. Recently we can enjoy many breathtaking moments of these sports in some videos and we really admire those who have such great courage to risk their lives for seconds of thrill. But we also have heard a lot of sad news talking about the loss of young lives in steep cliffs, or under layers of snow—caused by some tiny mistakes during the X-sport. As a young man, I firstly find it hard to reject the excitement and the sociability of this brand new type of sport; but secondly I consider it stupid to ask the nature for excitement or happiness because nature rules all, the consequence of challenging it might be miserable; lastly I think we should be more responsible for ourselves, as well as those who love us.
First of all, I really admire those X-sport takers, they are equipped with many virtues of younger generation— courageous, energetic, aggressive, curious…Besides, some X-sports themselves are very educational. For example, mountain-biking requires riding rapidly but steadily down a very steep and narrow mountain road, every participant must know how to best adapt himself to the difficult situation, this problem could be divided into following ones: which kind of bicycle should I choose? How many bottles of water should be prepared? How exactly fast should I ride to make sure that I can’t have a fall in the next turning?...All these problems need to be solved by searching for many information and observing the actual situation for many times, this process can teach people a lot of things about our body and mountains.
But the more we know about the nature, the less necessity there is for us to challenge it. Doing extreme sports involves a lot of things people need to collaborate with the nature, sometimes it works but sometimes the nature refuses to please human-beings anymore. For example, alpine skiing takes place normally on snow mountains with steep hillsides, when more and more people take this sport at the same time, the snow slide might happen, and that represents death.
To be honest, I think we should convert our dedication of extreme sports to some more practical and helpful things, like charity activities or the traditional sports. We should never put our lives in a dangerous place, that might end up losing them and making our parents painful, we should always remember that we represent not only ourselves, but also the hope of our parents and the image of our generation in the society.
