The development of modern science and technology that change every passing day has provided a strong motive force for the progress of human society. Our way of interacting with people have been changed completely. As a 21st century civilian, I feel strongly that the positive side of this change outweighs the negative ones.
The largest change is that the distance between people has been shortened greatly owing to the development of technology. In the old days, a simple family letter envelopes how many people’ s concerns. They had worries about their families as well as the doubt whether their letters can be received. A face-to-face talk was always a luxury. Luckily, now, with a handy and brick-like cell phone, we can contact with friends, family and co-workers instantly by sending a text message or our live pictures via some social network service. Meanwhile, the advent of high-speed rail and plane also brings us great convenience. The reform of transportation enables us not to wait so long to meet our family and friends. All of these make communication easier and quicker.
The development of technology also diversifies our way of communication. People used to meet with the same old faces in the same neighborhood, year in and year out. At that time, our life is confined to a specific social circle. However, after promotion of the logistics and the spread of the internet, we can encounter with people from all over the world and from all walks of life, and make acquaintance with them. In this way, not only can our thoughts be much more easily exchanged with each other, but also our horizon can be broadened.
However, every coin has two sides. We should not neglect them because nip in the bud can always help us avoid damage on our health and property. For instance, before long, the blackmail virus swept over the whole world, which warns people of the fact that potential danger of the internet may cost huge loss. Besides, cyber violence nowadays turns more seriously, such as suicide mission issued by some organizations, misleading adolescents into a wrong way. Nevertheless, I am still convinced that these kinds of issues can be fixed since people are more and more aware of the drawbacks of the internet and have already taken measures to deal with them.
In conclusion, no doubt technology is a good assistant of our life. If we can use it properly, and of course for the most time we do use it in a correct and beneficial way, we can reap great benefits from it.
