By the time of Revolutionary War, the country had nearly 800,000 Africans who

{{U}} 9 {{/U}} {{/U}}. Not all immigrants were
{{U}} {{U}} 10 {{/U}} {{/U}}with open arms. Quakes and Jews

{{/U}}. In the 1840s, for the first time, the English were

foreign-born by 1860. On the West Coast, the {{U}}
{{U}} 16 {{/U}} {{/U}}became the first non-Europeans to {{U}}
{{U}} 17 {{/U}} {{/U}}to the U. S.. Many of them ended in labor on
the {{U}} {{U}} 18 {{/U}} {{/U}}. But as the immigration
population grew, the English became {{U}} {{U}} 19 {{/U}}
{{/U}}. In 1882, all Chinese laborers were {{U}} {{U}} 20 {{/U}}
{{/U}}from entering the U. S..
