This year the
Best Digital Design Society reinvented its annual digital competition in a big
way. With new categories and divisions, they sought to showcase the very best
the industry has to offer, from photography to product designs and way
beyond. Best Digital Design Competition launched this summer when 5 industry
leaders spent a week poring over more than 150 entries. They met in person
at Midtown State University in July to discuss the top 10 entries.
The first-prize winner was the design by Elizabeth Burns, a 33-year-old
designer, connected with a leading design firm in the city. The contest judges
deemed her design for a smart phone monitor the most attractive, functional, and
cost-economic among the 150 entries submitted. The second
prize-winning design, by 26-year-old Kevin Davis, a recent college graduate,
rated higher in beauty and elegance for laptop computers. The
third prize went to the design by Richard Cox, a 38-year-old independent
designer. His battery design was adjudged the most creative, but was deemed too
advanced for mobile phone users. GX Electronics Co., the oldest
and most prestigious electronics company in the nation, sponsored this
contest.
