Advantages Weigh Higher than Disadvantages Living in the 21st Century
Living in the 21st century, there are certain advantages, such as a more convenient system of transportation, a briefer shopping mode, etc. No wonder that there, however, also appear some disadvantages, such as environmental pollution, the leak of personal information, etc. But personally speaking, advantages outweigh disadvantages living in the 21st century.
There are obvious advantages living in the 21st century. To begin with, most people now can bring in more money for less hard work. They earn higher salaries than before and enjoy better social security, such as social welfare for laid-off workers and disability insurance. Moreover, most people now can afford to buy foods of high nutrition and enjoy their leisure time. Secondly, because of the advance in medical technology which leads to better medical care and treatment, people's life expectancy increasingly becomes longer. Thirdly, modern conveniences such as TV, Internet, various vehicles and labour-saving machines, greatly facilitate human entertainment, communication, transportation, shopping and housework. Nonetheless, behind these advantages, disadvantages increasingly appear. For example, with the rising of various factories, environmental pollutions, such as water pollution and air pollution, are becoming more serious. Another typical example is that with the development of the Internet, the security of personal information is occasionally under threat. Fortunately, people come to realize that and make efforts to avoid them by adopting some measures.
In conclusion, it is inevitable that the advantages are accompanied by some limitations. But advantages are more essential and necessary for us. Living in such a developing century, what we should do is to enjoy present advances adequately to make a better life and meanwhile to carry out some measures to avoid those disadvantages effectively. In other words, we should continue to enjoy the benefits of technological advancement; however, we must make a concerted effort to preserve our natural environment for future generations. Moreover, we should take the time now to make our lives more meaningful in an increasingly impersonal and computerized world.
