Over the past century, technology has advanced greatly. Therefore, it’s true that new technology has significantly shifted the communication between people. With the updated mobile phones and computers, technology has affected relationships in different ways from many aspects. So, it’s wiser for people take a more holistic approach to the changes brought by technology. From my perspectives, there are both positive and negative effects of technological development.

Technology has an impact on relationships in business, education, as well as social life. First of all, telephones, computers and the Internet enable businessmen in different countries around the world to interact regardless of the geographic distance. In addition, the emergence and prosperity of e-commerce is a perfect manifestation of the benefits of technology on business relationships. Second, many websites create opportunities for students and teachers in different schools to establish contact with each other. For instance, a student can now take video lessons with a teacher in a different city or country. Finally, many people tend to use social networks such as WeChat and Facebook to make new friends and find people who share common interests, and they interact through mobile phones and computers rather than face to face.

On one hand, the developments of technology brought great benefits for human beings. Cooperation between different countries was once more intractable when communication was limited to written letters and telegrams. Nowadays, interactions by e-mail, mobile phone or video are almost as good as face to face meeting. And the technological achievements save us a great deal of time and money. On the other hand, the availability of new communication technologies has also resulted in the insolation of people and discourages real interaction. For example, many young people choose to make friend on line rather than mixing with their peers in the real world, and thus indulge in virtual world, which has caused many social problems. What’s more, the relationships built on line sometimes can be unreliable as Internet fraud is so common now.

In conclusion, the development of technology changes people’s life in various aspects, positively and negatively. The employment of phones and Internet helps friends and relatives keep in touch with each other and exchange emotions at any time. Nevertheless, the technological development also brought some social problems. As the young generation, we bear the responsibility to make good use of technology and to try our best to steer clear of the negative effects technology advancement.
