Jack: Terry, how do you manage money in your family?
Terry: Well, in money management, I like to keep it simple. The simpler, the better. To tell you the truth, my brain goes empty when I go over numbers.
Jack: I agree. Well, can you share with our listeners some of the most basic tips?
Terry: I’d be glad to. First, let’s talk about the ABC of how to manage our money.
A – Allowance (零花钱). Early on in our marriage, Mary and I have decided to keep some allowances for both of us—the money that we’re free to spend any time.
B – Budget (预算). As a family, we need to make a budget. If you do not know how much money you need in a month, you can start keeping a record. For our family,
this is how it looks:
10% = traveling
5% = giving
30% = savings
55% = spending
C – Communication. I believe that every giving, saving, and spending decision must be agreed on with my wife. This shows that we respect and honor each other.
Jack: Okay, now that we have the ABC for our listeners, do you have anything else to add? …
