{{B}}Business Report{{/B}}
At some time or other most of us find ourselves faced with the task of making, a report, even if it is only a report of telephone conversation, or an interview, or meetings we have attended. Reports of this kind will usually be short and straightforward accounts calling for no more than an orderly arrangement of relevant facts clearly presented. These reports, like those at meetings of clubs and societies, and in business generally on matters of routine, are often made verbally.
In business, reports frequently call for very much more. They may involve lengthy investigation and research and run into many pages or even assume the proportion of a small book. But whatever the nature of the report, the object is always the same—to present in adequate from relevant factual information, and sometimes conclusions and recommendations, as a guide to action to be taken. The form taken by report will vary with its length and subject matter, but there are certain general principles common to all report writing.

Report on the additional budget for the coming year for the Public Relations Department
Introduction
The aim of this report is to consider additional budget for the Public Relations Department for the coming year.
Findings
The Public Relations Department is now having three interpreters and one receptionist. They can hardly deal with the increasing number of visitors and clients. It is impossible for them to cover over the upcoming busy seasons. Due to rapid business increase, the Public Relations Department urgently needs additional staff members: one interpreter and two receptionists. The Department needs to recruit five new employees to cover over the loss of staff through retirement later in the year, as well as two temporary workers to provide cover for maternity leave that may well be long-term. What's more, the existing office space and equipment is inadequate for a busy department of public relations.
Conclusion
We have assessed the current staffing levels, and come to a conclusion: the Public Relations Department is short staffed. It is clear that the Public Relations Department has to recruit new employees to tackle the possible problems occurring in booming business of the company. Therefore, it needs badly extra money for business expansion.
Recommendations
1) It is recommended that the Department start to recruit new employees immediately by advertising in national newspapers and trade magazines.
2) Temporary positions should also be advertised in local newspapers for four production workers and two receptionists. If the successful candidates prove reliable, they can be offered full-time contracts to replace employees retiring or not returning form maternity leave.

Subject: Company Training Course Most Suitable for Foreign Language Translators
Introduction
This report sets out to recommend one training course out of three as being the most useful for all foreign language translators in the company.
Findings
As the translating coordinator, I strongly recommend that the company provide the third one, Management Skills, for translators. The reasons are as follows:
All translators in the Company have university degrees in English and many colleagues in our field have qualifications in Linguistics or Translation. As the company's English language course is only to diploma level and contains nothing that will be new to us, it is not suitable for us and is best left to other colleagues.
All company translators completed an excellent course on technology last year, which brought us up to date on the use of personal computers and machine translating. Clearly, we do not need to attend the second course, Changes in Technology, which is quite similar.
The Management Skills course is definitely the one for the company's translators. It has recently been announced that our department will be divided, next year, into six sections, each of which will serve a specific division of a much-expanded company. Thirty new English language graduates will be recruited as new translators, five to each section. We six existing translators will be promoted as Heads of Section. However, all six of us lack management skills and, when we have our own sections, such skills will be absolutely necessary.
Conclusion
Therefore, it is felt that all translators should be enrolled for the Management Skills training course.
