    I know it can be easily understood that academic learning is the most important thing for our kids, but I really doubt whether academic subjects can help cultivate an all-around kid. What our society needs are not people who know nothing but their textbooks, but those who know how to put into practice what they have learned, know how to appreciate and endure their lives, namely, people with full sensibilities and practical skills, which are not what we can expect from children who learn academic subjects only.
    For me, other subjects such as music and sports are more crucial to my children's development. In the rapidly changing environments of economy, no task can be done by a single person. The social interaction and teamwork spirit are necessary qualities for our kids. The sports can provide perfect settings to practice their social skills. By playing football on a team, for example, my kids can develop a sense of belonging and experience team spirit.
    Moreover, playing sports is good for my kids' health. They are burdened with all kinds of homework and courses, which makes them sit in front of the desk for a long time. Then playing sports can alleviate it. On the other hand, nowadays, since children suffer a lot of pressure from school, music can let them get away from it and get released.

    Besides, our country develops rapidly. Companies require more skilled staff rather than the artists or athletes. If my children do well in academic subjects, they can make more contribution to the development of the whole society.
    What's more, I think our kids' energy and time is limited. So for them, learning art and sports is at the expense of time spent on learning academic subjects. They should focus on academic subjects which are useful for them.

    Someone thinks doing sports or playing music is a waste of time. However, for me, they are good stress reducers. When I did poorly in an exam, I got frustrated in my academic work. In this way, playing sports can greatly improve my efficiency.
