Dear Ann, Are you free to come to dinner
here at 8:00 next Saturday? My brother Paul is coming and is bringing a friend
of his called Tom Edwards. You haven't met Tom but I think you will like him.
He's an assistant manager at the Gate Theater and will be able to tell you a-
bout the actors. Paul says Tom gets little salary and doesn't often get enough
to eat, so he has asked me to have roast beef (烤牛肉) and pudding (布丁) for dinner,
with apple pie (苹果派) to follow. He will probably call between now and Saturday,
to say that it would be a good idea to start with a soup like oxtail! I know you
don't usually eat heavy (难消化的) meals of this kind, but I hope the conversation
won't be so heavy. Anyway, come if you can.
